David Day has been studying African and World Drumming for 5 years at home, in Ireland and also while travelling in Senegal, Gambia and Ghana, West Africa. In Ghana, Dave studied with Master Drummer Okoe Ardyfio and his traditional dance troupe Akrowa.
Dave also play with Thunderdrums, a Taiko drumming group from Newbridge, Co. Kildare. He has designed and implemented programs for a wide range of groups including K.Y.S., C.Y.S., Riverbank Arts Office and various primary and secondary schools around Ireland.
Dave has been working as a freelance drummer, providing workshops for schools, youth groups, special needs groups and various community festivals for over three years now.
In 2005, he started the Trip to Africa programme inviting two master drummers from Ghana to share their culture and talents with the vision of promoting cultural awareness while providing an enjoyable insight into percussion, song and dance from Africa.
